Make-A-Wish® Greater Los Angeles is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that fulfills the wishes of children between the ages of 2½ and 18 who confront life-threatening medical conditions.
Make-A-Wish is the legacy of Chris Greicius, a 7-year-old boy from Phoenix. Find out how his wish to be a police officer set in motion a phenomenon that would create an unprecedented kind of charity.
On April 1, 1983 the Los Angeles chapter received its charter and granted its first wish that month to 11-year-old Gary from Ventura. The simple "I Wish to Have…a VCR" was accompanied by a year of free video rentals. More than 33 years later, the chapter has granted over 9,000 wishes.
