LOS ANGELES, CA (April 19, 2018) – A local nonprofit dedicated to creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles has been granted a $75,000 award from the S. Mark Taper Foundation. This competitive award is the largest local grant Make-A-Wish Greater LA has received to date and kicks off the organization’s 35th anniversary year.
“We are deeply appreciative of this generous and timely award from the S. Mark Taper Foundation as we work to transform the lives of every eligible child in LA,” said Bo Pearl, Board Chair, Make-A-Wish Greater LA. “As we approach granting our 10,000th wish in LA County, we are indebted to our local partners who help us reach the most vulnerable members of our community with life-changing wishes.”
The S. Mark Taper Foundation is a private family foundation dedicated to enhancing the quality of people’s lives by supporting nonprofit organizations in Southern California. Since 1983, Make-A-Wish Greater LA has granted more than 9,700 wishes to children throughout LA. This investment will drive the organization’s mission to grant life-changing wishes, which have been proven to build the physical and emotional strength children need to fight a critical illness.
“The S. Mark Taper Foundation is pleased to support Make-A-Wish Greater LA,” said Adrienne Wittenberg, Executive Director, S. Mark Taper Foundation.
Make-A-Wish Greater LA is marking their 35th Anniversary milestone year which will culminate in a community celebration at their annual Wish Gala on October 24, 2018 at The Beverly Hilton.
