Ho-Go!!! to Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting Dec. 7 at City Hall–join the Free Family Fun!

Date

November 30, 2018

PASADENA, Calif.—“Ho-Ho-Go!” and deck City Hall with Holiday Good Cheer by joining Pasadena Mayor Terry Tornek for a City Holiday Tradition: the Mayor’s Annual Tree Lighting Celebration, 5-7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave.

Bring family and friends, one and all, to Pasadena’s free celebration featuring local singers and dancers, crafts for kids provided by the Armory Center for the Arts, a Make-A-Wish Santa letter writing workshop, free light refreshments generously sponsored by Pasadena’s Amara Chocolate and Coffee and Lovebirds Café and Bakery, and a special appearance by Ol’ Santa Claus.  The Mayor lights the City’s Official Tree at 6 p.m., so come early for parking and a stroll over to historic City Hall.

Great live entertainment throughout the night includes, by popular demand, a triumphant return performance from the thundering Wilson Middle School Drum Corps! Enjoy musical numbers from the cast of “The Wonderful Winter of Oz,” a Panto style holiday musical with upcoming performances at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Plus, those adorable kids from the City’s Tiny Tots Troupe; the Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena, and Pasadena’s Afterschool Adventures Program will be there too. Pasadena High School LEARNs Orchesis Dance Troop and Elements Dance Space will perform exciting dance routines. And, of course, the evening just wouldn’t be complete without our favorite emcees, our own Dynamic Duo of retired police Lt. Rodney “Rodney D” Wallace and Sgt. Glen Thompson of the Pasadena Police Department!

Santa Claus—yes, we know him!—promises to make a special appearance and will be available for a photo op with your children and the young at heart. Festive photo stops will also be available during the event to capture the spirit of the season. Bring your own cameras to snap a special holiday picture.

This year more than ever, please find it in your hearts to help fill one of the Pasadena Fire Department’s paramedic ambulances—and make our firefighters smile—by bringing a new, unwrapped toy or sports equipment for gifts to less fortunate boys or girls as part of the annual Spark of Love Toy Drive.  We need your help and your donations, please.

Make-A-Wish will be onsite at this year’s event to collect letters to Santa.  Through December 24th, Macy’s iconic holiday program, Believe, benefiting Make-A-Wish, returns for the 11th year to celebrate the season’s spirit of generosity and goodwill. “Believers” of all ages are asked to write a letter to Santa and drop it off at Pasadena’s Macy’s on Lake or send online at macys.com/believe. Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish® for every letter collected, up to $1 million. Since 2003, Macy’s has donated more than $112 million to Make-A-Wish, including more than $17 million through the Believe campaign, helping grant more than 13,000 wishes.
