Step 1 – Learn More & Complete the Volunteer Inquiry Form

Once you know more about our roles, fill out our Volunteer Inquiry Form. We will reach out to you with more information once we have a Volunteer Orientation date for you to attend.
Step 2 – Attend a Volunteer Orientation
Attend a one-hour Volunteer Orientation Session to become familiar with our program, philosophy, needs, policies, procedures and expectations. All orientation attendees will be provided with a Volunteer Application and written information about Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles. Find upcoming orientation dates on our Calendar Of Events.
Step 3 – Volunteer Application
Complete and return the Volunteer Application to the chapter office. Upon receipt, we will notify you and begin to process your application which may take 2-4 weeks. Due to the nature of our work, select volunteer positions must successfully complete a criminal background check every 3 years. Make-A-Wish does not employ or utilize as a volunteer any individual who has been convicted of a crime that (a) victimizes children, (b) is sexual in nature, or (c) involves violence, fraud, or significant theft.
Step 4 - Welcome
When all the steps have been satisfactorily completed, we will contact you to officially welcome you and to update you on next steps based on the opportunities in which you are interested.
Note: Any volunteer interested in becoming a wish-granting volunteer will be required to attend a separate 5-hour Wish Granter Training session prior to becoming involved in wish activities. Once you complete steps 1-4, find upcoming Wish Granter Training dates on our Calendar Of Events.
