“The trip was a blessing, but also a chance for Isaiah to see the sun and the world which he often misses out on.” These are the words of nine-year-old Isaiah’s loving mother. Isaiah is homeschooled and spends most of his time indoors in order to stay healthy. However, being indoors did not deter his passion for sports, especially baseball. He has two brothers and they have two things in common, the love they have for each other, and the love they have for New York Yankees. So this baseball-loving boy had just one place in mind when asked where he wanted to go for his wish: New York City to see New York Yankees.
Isaiah and his family arrived in New York in style - they were greeted by a lavish limo and were taken to the beautiful Affinia Gardens NYC Hotel where they would be spending the rest of their fun-filled week. Their first day was a free day to explore the city, which was perfectly fine with Isaiah. Walking the city and seeing new and different people made Isaiah feel like he was just another kid walking around New York.
The following days were full of activities including a visit to the Wildlife Conservation Center to watch the sea lions swimming underwater, a trip to Central Park, and a trip to the Central Park Zoo. So it is safe to say, being indoors was not on the itinerary for this trip. The second-to-last day of their trip included the destination Isaiah was anticipating the most: Yankee Stadium. They arrived to the game and were immediately bowled over by the beauty and magnitude of the stadium. Being able to see the stadium in-person, is something Isaiah will always remember.
“This week created a lifetime of memories that will forever be in our hearts” said Isaiah’s mom. She is appreciative of every sight and sound Isaiah got to experience while he was in New York. Watching her son be able to look up at the tall buildings, see the beautiful cityscape, and even hear all the blaring car horns is something that touched her heart. She said, “Make-A-Wish will forever be a part of our family” and we’re thankful because we know this is a wonderful family to be part of.”
