MACY’S AND MAKE-A-WISH® GRANT “WISHES ACROSS AMERICA” ON NATIONAL BELIEVE DAY
On December 11, Kathleen learns about her wish to go to Barcelona, Spain at the Macy’s National Believe Day celebration in West Covina
Macy’s makes special double donation for letter-writing campaign on National Believe Day
Macy’s and Make-A-Wish will celebrate the seventh annual National Believe Day, the cornerstone of the retailer’s annual Believe campaign which helps Make-A-Wish grant wishes to children across America with life-threatening medical conditions.
The Greater Los Angeles chapter will reveal 19-year-old Kathleen’s wish to go to Barcelona with a surprise celebration at the Macy’s in West Covina. Kathleen, who was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Condition, will be under the impression that she is there to encourage children to write letters for the Believe Campaign. Instead, she will be showered with gifts in front of family, friends and Macy’s associates. The last gift, her surprise, will reveal that her wish is being granted to go to Barcelona on New Year’s Day.

William, who is six years old and was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy, was granted his wish to go to Disney World in Florida in June 2014. Since then, he has raised over $6,000 for the 2015 Walk for Wishes and has remained involved with Make-A-Wish. He will be at the event to lend support and talk about the power of a wish for children and their families.
Representatives of the Los Angeles Archdiocese
The Los Angeles Archdiocese has been a major supporter of Make-A-Wish for many years. The Archdiocese School District asked all elementary schools (more than 200) to write letters for Believe Day. Will is a student at Holy Trinity San Pedro, which raised $1,000 for Make-A-Wish last year. The following representatives from the Archdiocese will be attending the event:
-Dr. Tony Galla, Deputy Superintendent of Elementary Schools
-Dr. Kevin Baxter, Senior Director and Superintendent of Catholic Schools
-Linda Wiley, Holy Trinity Principal
-Sr. Jill Napier, Assistant Superintendent in the San Pedro Region
-Mr. Jim McClune, Assistant Superintendent
Macy’s Believe campaign invites “Believers” of all ages to bring their stamped letters to Santa to their local Macy’s store or send a letter by visiting macys.com/believe. For every letter received now through Dec. 24, Macy’s will donate $1, up to $1 million, to Make-A-Wish. For National Believe Day, Macy’s is offering a double donation – for every letter received in-store and online on Friday, Dec.11 only, Macy’s will donate an additional $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to an extra $1 million beyond the existing $1 million campaign goal.
New this year, Macy’s Wish Writer stylus and app are a fun way kids can learn the magic of giving through interactive games and write the most magical letters to Santa. Available at approximately 600 stores across the country and macys.com, the stylus can be purchased for $14.99 and $1 from each sale will go to Make-A-Wish. Every letter sent to Santa via the app on Dec. 11 will also count toward the double donation.
