Los Angeles, CA, May 11, 2016 – Last night more than 60 high-profile real estate executives from across Los Angeles raised more than $40,000 for Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles to help grant wishes to local children.
The Poker and Mezcal Tasting event was hosted by the chapter’s Real Estate Division, whose goal is to network, conduct business and raise money for Make-A-Wish. The event was held at Baltaire, and the Mezcal Tasting was provided by Silencio.
The evening’s special guests were wish kid Hayden and his family. Hayden’s father, Thomas, inspired the group by sharing the story of Hayden’s battle with leukemia. During a most difficult time in his treatment, Hayden was granted his wish to be a train conductor and airline pilot. After the wish, he continued his treatment and now, six years later, Hayden is in full remission.
Hayden’s family attributes his turnaround in large part to the joy of his experience with Make-A-Wish. Commenting on the event’s success, Neal Aton, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles said, “Our Real Estate Division leaders have proven time and again that doing well and doing good are two sides of the same coin – and can also include having fun. They are role models for all those looking to enrich their professional lives with a greater sense of purpose and meaning. Their continued fundraising efforts will help us get closer to our goal of granting the wish of every eligible child in Los Angeles.”
